1. For First Time in 35 Years, TDP Not to Contest in Telangana
For the first time in the 35 years of the party’s existence, the Telugu Desam Party is not contesting Lok Sabha elections for any constituency in Telangana.
The TDP’s senior leaders discussed the issue on Sunday. Senior leader K Dayakar Reddy and others told party president L Ramana that the party wanted to field candidates, but the final decision was not to contest and to support the Congress instead.

2. City's New Zealand Terror Attack Victim Uzair Khadir Laid to Rest
The funeral prayer of Uzair Khadir, who was shot dead on 15 March in the terror attack at Masjid Noor in Christchurch of New Zealand, was offered at Jamia Masjid Darusshifa in Hyderabad on Sunday. He was later buried at a graveyard in Dabeerpura.
Hundreds of mourners, including relatives and friends, participated in the funeral procession and last prayer.

3. New Interim Domestic Arrivals Terminal Opened at Hyderabad Airport
Air passengers will no longer have to wait for longer duration to collect their luggage as a new Interim Domestic Arrivals Terminal (IDAT) was inaugurated at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here on Saturday. In addition to the existing three terminals and IDAT, this new facility offers four new baggage carousels belts of 45 metre length each to speed up baggage delivery process.

4. 42 Lakh People to Vote in Hyderabad
A total of 41,613 voters in the city have requested the State Election Commission to delete their names under Forms 7, 8 and 8A. Another 59,331 have applied to include their names in the voter lists. The EC has rejected 2,000 applications, leaving the city with about 41.78 lakh voters.
The GHMC said the deletion requests had come from those who were permanently shifting out of the city, the relatives of those who had died, voters with duplicate entries, and in the form of claims and objections from political parties, and individuals who opted to vote in their native places.

5. Election Commission Has No Answer for Crucial Common Voters
The State Election Commission (EC) is helpless regarding the 20 lakh voters whose names allegedly figure in the voter lists of both states. The large number of voters can easily swing elections, it is feared.
Sources said that since the Assembly polls have been concluded in TS, AP-origin voters would prefer to vote in their home state in view of the close race there rather than stay back and vote for the parliamentary elections here.
