Attacks on doctors and hospitals is creating deep-seated fear in them, leading to some medical practitioners not taking the risk of treating critical cases where chances of survival are low. According to practising doctors and heads of medical associations, most of these doctors are now referring such cases to government hospitals. They said that if the attacks continue, it could lead to a situation where people will not find doctors who will attend emergency cases.
President of Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) Dr K Mahesh Kumar said that in some critical cases, chances for a patient to survive could be low. The aspirants for Cabinet posts are clueless about the timing of the expansion of his Cabinet by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao though he has declared that he would induct six to eight of them in first instance by December end and complete the full quota of 18 later.
One assessment that is widely discussed in TRS circles is that the first batch of ministers would either be sworn in before 4 January or, in the alternative, it will only be after Sankranti because the interim period was not auspicious. The second batch of almost the same number of ministers would join only after Parliament elections. Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali was sworn in along with Rao, marking the installation of the TRS government for second term.
