Trump Plans to End Birthright Citizenship

US President Donald Trump confirmed on Tuesday, 30 October that he is planning to put an end to what he called the "ridiculous" law that grants citizenship to all children born in US territory.

“We're the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the US with all of those benefits,” Trump said in an interview with the online daily Axios, reports Efe.

Body of Crashed Lion Air Has Been Located

The fuselage of Lion Air plane which crashed into the sea with 189 passengers onboard on 29 October has now been located, reported Reuters quoting Indonesia military chief.

At Least 4 People Killed in Blast in Afghanistan

An Interior Ministry official says a suicide bomber has struck outside the country's largest prison on the eastern edge of the capital Kabul, killing seven people, including prison workers and security personnel.

Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish says the attacker early on Wednesday, 31 October targeted a bus carrying prison workers. The sprawling Pul-e-Charkhi prison houses hundreds of inmates, including scores of Taliban.

According to Abadullah Karimi, a prison official, the attack occurred near the prison gate where a number of visitors were waiting to pass a rigorous security check before entering.

No one has taken immediate responsibility for the attack.

Saudi Prosecutor Visits Turkish Intelligence Agency Over Khashoggi Killing

Turkish media reports said on Wednesday, 31 October, that Saudi Arabia's top prosecutor, who is in Istanbul for discussions on the killing of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi, has met with Turkish intelligence officials.

Private DHA news agency said that the prosecutor, Saud al-Mojeb, paid a midnight visit to the Turkish intelligence agency's Istanbul headquarters.

Bomb Injures 3 Russian Security Officers; Attacker Dead

A man set off a bomb at the entrance of the local branch of Russia's main intelligence agency in a northern city on Wednesday, 31 October, injuring three security officials and killing himself, authorities said.

The man entered the local branch of the FSB intelligence agency in Akhangelsk and removed the improvised explosive device from a bag, causing it to detonate, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee said.

Over 1,500 Bodies Found in Syria Mass Grave

More than 1,500 bodies have been found in a mass grave in Syria's Raqqa province, the former de facto capital of the Islamic State (IS), local media reports said on Wednesday, 31 October.

Citing medical sources, the pro-government al-Watan newspaper said "the bodies belonged to civilians who had been killed by the strikes of the US-led coalition on Raqqa".

Indian, Pakistani Troops Trade Fire on LoC

Indian and Pakistani troops on Wednesday, 31 October, traded heavy fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.

Police said the Pakistan Army targeted Indian posts in Tangdhar and Keran sectors, after which the Indian positions retaliated.

The police said heavy firing continued between the two sides for around 15 minutes at both places. No casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side.

Khashoggi Was Strangled, Dismembered: Turkish Prosecutor

A Turkish prosecutor said on Wednesday, 31 October, that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was strangled as soon as he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul as part of a premeditated killing, and his body was dismembered and disposed of.

A statement from chief Istanbul prosecutor Irfan Fidan's office also said that discussions with Saudi chief prosecutor Saud al-Mojeb have yielded no "concrete results" despite "good-willed efforts" by Turkey to uncover the truth.

Major Fire Breaks out in Plastic Factory in Kerala

A major fire broke out at a plastic manufacturing unit in Manvilla near Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, 31 October night.

There was, however, no casualty, police said, citing preliminary reports.
