1. BJP Wins All 26 Lok Sabha Seats in Gujarat Again

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah once again led their party to a clean sweep in Gujarat – winning all the 26 Lok Sabha seats. The state has never consecutively handed over victory to a single party. The BJP had won all the seats in Gujarat in 2014 too.

The 2019 victory is sweeter for the BJP as it bagged over 1.76 crore votes, which is 62.2 per cent of 2.89 crore votes polled. It is also almost double of the 91.01 lakh votes that Congress won during the polls. Congress got just 32.1 per cent of total votes polled.

If that wasn't enough the winning margin for BJP has seen new highs. The results mirrored the exit polls which had given only one seat to the Congress in the state. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani told media persons that the verdict is a stamp of approval of voters of India over developmental and strong leadership that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has demonstrated for past five years.

2. BJP's CR Patil Wins by 6.89 Lakh Votes, Biggest Victory Margin in 2019 Elections

Two-time BJP MP C R Patil on Thursday, 23 May, came close to surpassing the all-time victory margin in Lok Sabha polls as he won the Navsari seat in Gujarat by garnering 6.89 lakh more votes than his rival -- the highest margin in 2019 polls.

So far, the highest victory margin of 6.96 lakh votes in Lok Sabha polls belongs to Pritam Munde, who won the by-election to Beed seat in Maharashtra in October 2014. The by-poll was necessitated after the death of her father and senior BJP leader Gopitnath Munde.

Patil has party colleagues Sanjay Bhatia, Krishan Pal and Subhash Chandra Baheria in the 6 lakh-plus club, while about a dozen other candidates have won by over 5 lakh margin.

BJP President Amit Shah has won Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat by a margin of more than 5 lakh votes, surpassing LK Advani's record of 4.83 lakh votes. Shah defeated the Congress candidate Chavda Chatursinh Javanji by 5.43 lakh votes in Gandhinagar seat, one of the 26 Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat.

Amit Shah, who is contesting his first Lok Sabha election from Gandhinagar, has secured 8.74 lakh votes while Javanji has got 3.30 lakh votes. Chavda, who is the ex-president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee, is a two-time MLA representing Gandhinagar North seat.

In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Advani had won from Gandhinagar by a huge margin of 4.83 lakh votes against his closest opponent Kiritbhai Ishvarbhai Patel of Indian National Congress (INC).

4. Cakewalk Victory in Ahmedabad City

The city on Thursday, 23 May, rejoiced to popular slogans of 'Phir ek baar, Modi Sarkar' and 'Aayega to Modi hi', with the ruling BJP registering a cakewalk win in both the east and west constituencies of Ahmedabad. Both the seats, which were carved out as part of the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies in 2008, have always remained a BJP bastion, with no change in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls except for the winning margin getting wider.

In fact, BJP's Hasmukh Patel, the sitting MLA from Amraiwadi who was pitted against Congress candidate Geeta Patel in Ahmedabad East, has surpassed all previous records for the seat and widened the vote margin between the saffron party and Congress by a considerable number.
