Slain Colonel Mahadik’s Wife Swati Mahadik Joins the Army
The brave ladies returned to the profession which took their husbands’ lives.

Martyr Colonel Santosh Mahadik’s wife Swati Mahadik is now a Lieutenant in the Indian army. She was commissioned as an officer after she completed her training at the OTA in Chennai.
Lt. Mahadik was not the only officer to don the olive green uniform today. Lt. Nidhi Dubey, wife of Naik Mukesh Dubey (who died of a cardiac arrest a year after their wedding) has also followed her late husband’s footsteps.
As soon as Lt. Mahadik completed her parade, the mother of two broke down and was consoled by her family members and a senior army officer's wife.
According to reports, Lt. Mahadik will be commissioned as an officer in the Army Ordnance Corps (AOC).
Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy for Nidhi, her in-laws abandoned her during pregnancy post husband's death and left her to face the hardships alone.
Col. Mahadik was a recipient of the Sena medal for gallantry. The lionhearted Colonel was killed in a gunfight with terrorists in the jungles of Haji Naka area near the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir in November 2015.
