Jailed RJD leader Lalu Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi’s quest to find a ‘desi bahu’ for his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is finally over. The former Bihar health minister is all set to tie the knot with Aishwarya Rai, the daughter of former Bihar minister Chandrika Rai and the granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Rai, Indian Express reported.

While the engagement ceremony is scheduled to take place on 18 April at a hotel in Patna, the marriage is scheduled to take place on 12 May in the city, the report added. Reportedly, talks between the two families have been underway for the last six months.

According to Indian Express, RJD leaders will try to seek bail for him to attend the wedding. “Pained” at the RJD chief’s current jail term, a leader said, “If we do not get bail for him, we will pray for parole so that he can attend the marriage of his elder son.”

If we do not get bail for him, we will pray for parole so that he can attend the marriage of his elder son. We will try to keep the function as simple and modest as possible as we are pained at our leader being in jail.

Younger brother Tejashwi Yadav told Express, “People would get to know once invitation cards are printed.”

Aishwarya is a pass-out of Patna’s Notre Dame school and received an MBA from Noida’s Amity University. Pratap, who formally joined politics ahead of the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls, successfully contested from Mahua in Vaishali. Lately, he has been in the news for constructing a temple on vacant government land near the CM’s house without permission, the daily reported.

Earlier, of her two sons, Tej Pratap and Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi said she particularly wants a “well-cultured” girl for the former who is very religious, reported The Times of India.

At the occasion of Lalu’s 70th birthday, when she was asked what kind of bahus she is looking for, she said:

I don’t want girls who go to cinema halls and malls. They should be able to look after the house, respect elders, and manage outside work, just like me.
