1. Didi Says Modi Isn’t Even Fit To Become A ‘Councillor’

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday explained her “slap comment” against Narendra Modi, saying that she didn’t talk about giving the PM a slap. In the same breath, she held that Modi wasn’t fit to even become “councillor of a municipality ward”.

“I didn’t talk about giving the PM a slap. I said he will be voted out and get a slap of democracy. And why should I hit you with stones? I said I will offer you sweets; sweets made of mud and stone chips so that your teeth break and you are unable to make false statements,” the CM said at a rally in Purulia’s Simulia.

Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee has assigned three heavyweights – Asansol mayor Jitendra Kumar Tiwari, minister Malay Ghatak and Birbhum party chief Anubrata Mondal – to chalk out the strategy to win the Purulia and Bishnupur Lok Sabha seats.

“See… Asansol mayor Jitendra and Malay have come here to work together with you in Purulia. They are very good. This unity is the strength of our party,” Mamata told a rally in Purulia’s Hura on Wednesday.

Tiwari and Ghatak have been camping in Purulia after the fourth phase elections were over on 29 April. Mamata has already deputed Mondal in Bishnupur.

4. Not Accepting PM Is Insulting The Constitution: Modi

Cyclone Fani, which exited West Bengal almost a week ago, continued to reverberate in the state but in the political arena as Prime Minister Narendra Modi unleashed an attack on chief minister Mamata Banerjee for failing to take his call offering help and belittling his high office.

“I called the CM two times. But she didn’t feel like taking the PM’s call. Even our officers were ready to help out the state government before the cyclone hit Bengal. But she refused to hold the meeting. Her arrogance will pave the way for her downfall,” Modi said in Bankura on Thursday, turning the tables on Trinamool minister Partha Chatterjee who had accused the PM of talking to the governor “bypassing” the CM. Banerjee had earlier said she was in Kharagpur at the time.
