Barely had the furore over mass cheating in Bihar died down, than another one began in Kerala. A senior police officer, Thrissur range Inspector General (IG) of Police T.J. Jose IPS (conferred) was allegedly caught cheating in an examination conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University. He was appearing for the LLM (Master of Laws) examination at St. Paul’s College in Kalamassery when he was allegedly caught for malpractice.
According to a Malayala Manorama report, an hour into the exam, papers torn out from a guide were found to be in his possession. Jose left the examination hall refusing to surrender his paper, after the invigilator questioned him without knowing Jose’s designation.
While Jose vehemently denied reports of ‘copying’ – calling it fake news to The News Minute – Vice Principal of the college VJ Peter has confirmed the incident.
Kerala DGP Balasubramaniam has ordered a detailed investigation into the issue. The DGP’s office further informed The News Minute that necessary action will be taken against Jose post enquiry.
MG University has reportedly debarred the officer from appearing for examinations of the university.
