Kerala Floods: Tracking The Tragedy
265 people lost their lives to floods, 36 people are missing and 14.50 lakh are affected, state’s figures reveal.
Kerala is still reeling from its worst floods in a century, having suffered damages to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore, along with loss of life in the hundreds.
Here is the scale and extent of the tragedy in numbers:
Two hundred and sixty-five people were killed in the flooding, and state figures show that 36 are still missing.
Five districts, Idukki, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Alapuzha and Malappuram, have recorded the majority of the deaths, with the toll standing at 196 in these five alone.
The state set up 3,879 relief camps that accommodate nearly 8.69 lakh people, according to the officials at Kerala's disaster management control room.
