Congress President Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to pay tribute to DMK patriach and five-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi. on his 95th birth anniversary.

Earlier this morning, DMK chief and son of Karunanidhi, MK Stalin also paid homage to his father and tweeted about the same.

Translation: “The forever headline of Tamil Nadu, the strength of Tamil Nadu, dear Thalaivar, your birthday is Tamil Nadu’s birthday. We pledge to achieve all that you dreamed about. Bless us, dear Kalaignar,” Stalin tweeted in Tamil.

Karunanidhi, who was Tamil Nadu's longest-serving chief minister, breathed his last in August last year, at the age of 94, after a period of prolonged illness. A 13-time lawmaker, Karunanidhi never personally lost an election since 1957. He was 48 when he first became Tamil Nadu's chief minister.
