How Far Is Kartarpur Sahib From Punjab’s Dera Baba Nanak? Not Very
It was Kartarpur Sahib where Guru Nanak spent last the last 17 years, while he was born in Dera Baba Naik in 1469.
The Kartarpur Corridor connecting Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India's Punjab with Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Kartarpur is just four kilometres away from the International Border.
But it’s not ‘just a four-kilometre corridor’ but an access to shrines commemorating the birth and death of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev – which the Partition put on the two sides of the border.
While Guru Nanak was born in Dera Baba Nanak in 1469, he spent last the last 17 years of his life in Kartarpur Sahib. The holy corridor, that connects India and Pakistan will be inaugurated on Saturday, 9 November, ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
Distance from Dera Baba Nanak to the Kartarpur Corridor in the Indian side is approximately distanced at 3 km.
The pilgrims have been visiting the sacred site Kartarpur Sahib via Wagah border – covering a distance of 131 km.
All roads in Punjab now lead to the Kartarpur corridor. While Amritsar to Dera Baba Nanak is 48.3 km, Gurdaspur is 36.8 km from Guru Nanak’s birthplace. Pathankot is further away at 78.2 km.
Notwithstanding a chill in bilateral ties over Kashmir, Pakistan and India after tough negotiations earlier signed an agreement in October 2019.
