The death toll in the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) outbreak in Muzaffarpur touched 126 on Friday, 21 June, as more children continue to fall prey to the disease.

At least 106 deaths were reported at the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), whereas Kejriwal hospital recorded the death of 20 children on Friday.

After public outcry over the lack of facilities at hospitals, the SKMCH management converted a prisoners' ward into an intensive care unit (ICU) to accommodate the rising number of patients.
