‘J&K Will Become a State Again When The Time is Right’: Amit Shah
Amit Shah informed the House that the Centre plans to make Jammu and Kashmir “the most developed state”.
Stating that Article 370 was a temporary provision which could not be allowed to continue, Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, 5 August, said that full statehood will be restored in Jammu and Kashmir at an appropriate time.
"It may take time but Jammu & Kashmir will become normal again. At the right time J&K will become a state again. We don't want the state to remain a Union Territory forever," Shah said in the upper house on Monday.
Backing the Union Government's decision to scrap Article 370, Shah said the Centre plans to make Jammu and Kashmir “the most developed state”.
"Terrorism cannot be eliminated from Jammu and Kashmir till Article 370 is there. More than 41,000 people have been killed due to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir; whose policy is responsible for the deaths?," he asked.
Healthcare is crippling and the Right to Education could not be implemented in Kashmir due to Article 370 and 35A, Shah said and asserted that after abrogation of Article 370, “J&K will truly become an integral part of India".
