Militant Killed in Encounter With Security Forces in J&K’s Pulwama

A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Branpatri forests area of Kahlil Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday, 26 June.

The encounter took place after a gunfight broke out during a search operation in the area.

“On a credible input, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces at Branpatri, forest area of Tral in Awantipora. During search operation, hiding terrorists fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter,” ANI reported quoting Jammu and Police Kashmir.

AGH Militant Killed in Encounter

It was reported that the slain militant was affilianted with Ansar Ghazwatul Hind (AGH), an Al-Qaeda outfit in India.

As per police records, he was identified as Shabir and was wanted by law for his complicity in several terror crimes, including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
