A Jadavpur University professor has received massive backlash for a Facebook post comparing the virginity of a woman with the seal of a “cold drink bottle or a packet of biscuits.”

Kanak Sarkar, a professor at the prestigious university, wrote several misogynistic and sexist posts on a woman's virginity, which have now been deleted, India Today reported.

“Are you willing to buy a broken seal while purchasing a bottle of cold drink or a packet of biscuits? It is the same case with your wife. A girl is biologically sealed from birth until it is opened. A virgin girl means many things accompanied [sic] as values, culture, sexual hygiene. To most boys, virgin wife is like angel [sic],” Sarkar said in the Facebook post, as quoted by India Today.
