Trinamool Congress (TMC) parliamentary party leader Derek O'Brien on Thursday, 12 December, moved a Zero Hour notice in Rajya Sabha, over the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry's advisories to TV channels, news agency ANI reported.

The I&B Ministry had, on Wednesday, issued an advisory, asking all news channels to refrain from inflammatory content.

The I&B Ministry has advised news channels to be particularly cautious with regard to any content which:

  • Is likely to encourage or incite violence or contains anything against maintenance of law and order or which promotes anti-national attitudes.
  • Contains anything affecting the integrity of the nation and ensure that no such content is telecast which is violative of these codes.
