Indian Envoy to Australia Stopped From Entering a Gurdwara
Protesters said they were Indians, but not anymore since the government refused to give them justice.
AC Gondane, the Indian High Commissioner to Australia, was stopped from entering a gurdwara to pay his respects in Melbourne by pro-Khalistani protesters.
The protesters told the envoy that they would welcome him as a private citizen and accord him the respect they will give to anyone else, but he was not allowed into any gurdwara in Melbourne as an Indian consulate member.
They brought up the atrocities meted out to the community at the hands of the “Hindu government”, that raped and burned their women and forced them to flee from India.
The protestors said that they were Indians but not anymore, since the government refused to give them justice for what happened in 1984.
The men also said that they want no interference of the Indian government in matters of religion of the Sikh community in Melbourne.
The Secretary of the gurudwara management committee Gunwant Kaur called the incident “unfortunate”, while speaking to SBS.
