An Indian Coast Guard ship, on Thursday, 14 June, rescued all 22 crew members stranded on Merchant Vessel SSL Kolkata, which caught fire on the night of Wednesday, 13 June.

The ship, Rajkiran, from Haldia and Coast Dornier, swung into action earlier on Thursday.

Coast Guard Commander Inspector General Kuldeep Singh Sheoran said that Merchant Vessel SSL Kolkata was carrying 464 containers. "We have rescued all crew members and they are safe, " he said.

"No spillage of fuel as of now. However, if there is any, the coast guard will take care of it."
