The five soldiers, who were earlier reported trapped in an avalanche in the Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir, were rescued.

The personnel were hit in Kupwara district, and the army launched rescue operations.

More than 20 people, including 15 army personnel, have already died in avalanches since Wednesday caused by fresh snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the past four days. Two avalanches hit army personnel in Gurez sector on Wednesday evening, trapping and killing several soldiers under the debris.
