India-Pakistan News LIVE Updates: Soon after PM Narendra Modi's message to Pakistan against terrorism amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations, India intercepted several Pakistani drones in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba in a violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two nations reached on 10 May.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday night, stating that "terror and trade cannot go together." He said, "If Pakistan wants to talk, it will have to be about terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)."
PM Modi's address came just minutes after US President Donald Trump took credit for helping 'avert a nuclear war' between India and Pakistan, saying that the "two nations agreed to stop fighting because he offered them trade."
Earlier on Monday, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) held a second briefing India's achievements in operation Sindoor.
Soon after PM Narendra Modi's message to Pakistan against terrorism amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations, India intercepted several Pakistani drones in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba in a violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two nations reached on 10 May.
"If Pakistan wants to talk, it will have to be on terrorism and PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir)," said PM Narendra Modi while addressing the nation on Monday evening amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
He added, "On the afternoon of 10 May, they (Pakistan) reached out to our DGMO. By that time, we had demolished their infrastructure and struck their terror bases. When Pakistan pleaded for help and said they will not allow terror and military attacks from its soil on India, we considered their proposal. The operation is on pause, we will watch their actions carefully."
Prime Minister Modi stated that India’s armed forces carried out precision strikes on terrorist hideouts and training camps in Pakistan, during his address to the nation on Monday evening.
He noted, "More than 100 dreaded terrorists were slaughtered in Indian attack. Terrorists who were openly conspiring against India were openly roaming in Pakistan, but India slaughtered them in just one go. India's actions were a huge setback for Pakistan."
In his ongoing address to the nation on Monday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The terrorists removed the 'sindoor' of our sisters. That's why India annihilated the terror headquarters...I dedicate Op Sindoor to every mother, sister and daughter.”
"Operation Sindoor is not just a name. It is a reflection of the feelings of millions of people in the country," he added.
Speaking for the first time since the launch of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the efforts of all involved, stating, "Our forces displayed exceptional courage during Operation Sindoor. I salute the Indian armed forces, scientists, and all agencies involved. This operation has showcased the nation’s strength, patience, potential, and resilience. Above all, I want to salute the soldiers, paramilitary personnel, and intelligence agencies — on behalf of every Indian."
Speaking at a press conference with the US Secretary of Health and Human Services on Monday evening, US President Donald Trump said the US stopped a nuclear war between India and Pakistan, "brokering a full and immediate ceasefire."
"They were going at it hot and heavy and it seemingly was not going to stop," he said, adding, "they really were from the standpoint of having the strength, and the wisdom, and fortitude to fully know, and to understand the gravity of the situation. And we helped a lot, and we also helped with trade. I said, 'Come on, we're going to do a lot of trade with you guys. Let's stop it. If you stop it, we're doing trade. If you don't stop it, we're not going to do any trade. ' People have never really used trade the way I used it...and all of a sudden they said, 'I think we're gonna stop, and they have'."
