Senior military officials in the Indian and Chinese armies held disengagement talks on Saturday, 8 August, news agency ANI reported quoting sources from the Indian Army.

These Major General level talks concluded around 7:30 pm, reported ANI.

This was the sixth round of talks between the two armies to discuss disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

According to the ANI report, the talks were held at the Daulat Beg Oldi area to discuss disengagement by Chinese side along the LAC. This came after the last round of negotiations was held at Moldo on the Chinese side.

Major General Abhijit Bapat, General Officer Commanding of the 3 Mountain Division is heading the India delegation, a report by India Today stated.

The main agenda of the talks was to address the situation at Depsang plains that has seen a big mobilisation.

The bilateral ties between India and China strained after a violent clash between soldiers of the two sides in mid-June in which led to the killing 20 Indian soldiers and an unknown number of Chinese troops.
