Residents of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir woke up to heavy snowfall on Thursday, 7 November, that has engulfed streets and highways.

The heavy snowfall across Kashmir has cut off the Valley from the rest of the country as the arterial Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed for traffic while all flights to and fro Srinagar airport were cancelled, officials said.

Over 2,000 vehicles were stranded on the highway due to the closure, PTI reported.
