One Army jawan is critical and a number have sustained minor injuries in a blast that took place during a training exercise along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Wednesday, 22 May, ANI reported, quoting a Defence Ministry spokesperson.

The spokesperson clarified that contrary to earlier reports, the blast that took place was not an IED explosion, but a training-related incident, adding that there had been no fatalities.

Officials had earlier stated that an Army personnel was killed in the blast that took place during handling of explosives, reported PTI.

The injured have been hospitalised.
