  • The Human Resource Development Ministry has rejected an RTI request that sought to make public a panel’s report on the death of University of Hyderabad research scholar Rohith Vemula.
  • Replying to the RTI query, the ministry said that the file concerned was “under submission” and that a copy of the report cannot be provided.
  • The HRD Ministry had, in February 2016, appointed a Commission of Inquiry under Justice (retd) Ashok Kumar Roopanwal to look into the events at University of Hyderabad, culminating in Vemula’s death.
