India will celebrate the festival of Holi on 20 and 21 March 2019. The vibrant festival of colours celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

Holi is also a time when people from far and wide travel to their hometowns to celebrate the festival of Gujiyaas, bhaang, colours & music with their loved ones.

When Will Holi 2019 Be Celebrated?

Holi or Dhulandi in 2019 will be celebrated on 21 March. On the day of Holi, people splash colors over each other and also play with water guns and ballons. In the evening, they prepare and relish delicious meals.

Holika Dahan or Choti Holi, as it is popularly called in some parts of the country, will be celebrated on 20 March.

The festival is celebrated in different ways and with different names across the length and breadth of the the country.

Phoolon wali Holi

In Vrindavan and Mathura, the festival marks a week-long celebration that starts with the Phoolon wali Holi wherein, people shower each other with flowers inside the temples located in these two towns of Uttar Pradesh.

Lathmar Holi Festival

Lathmar is an infamous Holi played in the villages of Nandgaon and Barsana , where women beat up men using long wooden sticks called ‘lath’.

In Barsana, the Lathmar Holi will be played on 16 March, while in Nandgaon, it will be played on 17 March this year.
