Delhi Police, on Wednesday, arrested a man they believe is hired by Chhota Shakeel to murder writer Tarek Fatah. Naseem, aka Rizwan, was wanted and had a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

According to a report by India Today, Naseem was wanted in many cases including the Tarek Fatah case, an attempt to murder and a robbery in Gokulpuri.

This is the second arrest made by Delhi Police in relation to Fatah. Earlier this year, a man named Junaid, who also had connections with Chhota Shakeel, was arrested by the police for targeting Fatah.

Pakistan-born author and political commentator Tarek Fatah.

Pakistan-born Canadian writer Fatah has made a habit of criticising Sharia Law and Islam, which has provoked ire.

Fatah’s views on Sharia had apparently offended Shakeel, which led to the attempt on his life.

(More details are awaited.)
