‘Buy Boat, Not Car’: Stranded Bengalurians Tweet After Floods
Heavy rains caused severe water-logging and traffic jams.
Heavy rains in Bengaluru since October 4 evening have left the city crippled with severe water-logging and traffic jams. According to the India Meteorological Department, the city received 42 mm rainfall between 1 pm and 2.30 pm on 5 October.
Electronic City, BTM layout, Koramangala, Shantinagar, Madiwala. Nayandahalli, Marathahalli, BTM layout, and several other areas have reportedly been water-logged.
The editor-in-chief of The News Minute, Dhanya Rajendran, took to Facebook to post about the condition of Bengaluru after the flooding.
Traffic jams are a usual sight in the city, and with such torrential rain, it only gets worse for the commuters. The residents took to social media to express their inconvenience and anger against authorities.
Reports of trees getting uprooted have also surfaced, though more details are awaited. Earlier in September, three people lost their lives after a tree fell due to torrential rains. Another person was feared to have been washed away in a storm water drain.
