Gulshan Kumar’s Murder: Dawood Aide May Be Extradited From B’desh

Daud Merchant, convicted of the murder in India, was serving jail term in Bangladesh for cross-border intrusion.

  • Bangladesh on Monday freed a top aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim on the expiry of his jail term for cross-border intrusion. He was convicted in India for killing Bollywood music baron Gulshan Kumar in 1997.
  • Daud Merchant might soon be extradited to India, according to news reports. He will be handed over to Border Security Force (BSF) at the India-Bangladesh border on Tuesday, sources told India Today.
  • Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said Daud Merchant was released as his jail term expired but did not clarify whether he was handed over to India, where he is to stand trial.
