ICSE and CBSE Postpone Board Exams Till After 31 March

After Ministry of Human Resource Development on Wednesday, 18 March, directed the CBSE and all educational institutions in the country to postpone exams till 31 March in view of the coronavirus outbreak. ICSE board too has postponed examinations of class 10 and 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reported news agency PTI.

Statement released by ICSE board

ICSE, in its official statement said, that in the view of the "novel coronavirus spreading across the country, the council in the interest of health and well-being of students and the teaching community, has decided to postpone all ICSE and ISC 2020 examinations scheduled to be conducted between the period 19 March 2020 to 31 March 2020"

The statement further mentioned that the “revised dates for conduct of the remaining papers shall be notified in due course of time.”

On Wednesday, 18 March, a press release from CBSE said, "All ongoing examinations of the board for classes-X and XII, being held in examination centres in India and abroad, and scheduled between 19 to 31 March 2020 (both dates inclusive), shall be rescheduled after 31 March 2020.”

The board also added that exams that were rescheduled for students of violence-hit Northeast Delhi, have been postponed till 31 March . Additionally, CBSE said that all evaluation of answers scripts have been suspended till 31 March.

In addition to CBSE, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has also directed JEE Mains to be postponed as the latter may clash with rescheduled CBSE exams, reported ANI.

SSC Postpones Key Recruitment Exams

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Thursday postponed its key recruitment examinations as a preventive measure to check the spread of novel coronavirus.

"As a precautionary measure, in view of the emergent situation due to COVID-19, it has been decided by the commission, in the larger public interest, to postpone the ongoing Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination (Tier-I), 2O19 with effect from March 20, 2020," it said in an order, according to PTI.

Similarly, the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Quantity Surveying and Contract) Examination (Paper-I) 2019, scheduled to commence from 30 March, has also been postponed, the SSC said.

According to PTI, fresh schedules for these examinations will be announced in due course and candidates have been advised to visit the website of the commission regularly for updates.
