17-Year-Old Gangraped In Odisha on I-Day, Four Arrested

On the basis the girl’s official complaint, four people, aged between 20 and 25 years, were arrested on Thursday.

A teenaged girl was allegedly gangraped near a river in Bhanjanagar area of Odisha's Ganjam district on her way home after attending an Independence Day programme on Tuesday. Four persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with the case.

The incident took place when the plus two student, aged around 17 years, was returning home after attending the Independence Day programme at her college at Belaguntha on Tuesday, police said on Thursday.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl, the four persons, aged between 20 and 25 years, were arrested on Thursday, said the inspector in-charge of Bhanjanagara police station, Aswin Kumar Sahu.

He also said that the girl and the accused have been medically examined.
