French Defence Min Likely to Ink Rafale Deal With India Next Week

  • French Defence Minister, Jean Yves Le Drian will likely be visiting India on 23 September to conclude the 17-month long negotiations between India and France on the purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets.

  • The Rafale deal will expectedly cost India Euros 7.87 billion, that is Rs 55,000 crores as fixed by rate of currency exchange in the contract.

  • The fighter jets will be customized as per the requirements of IAF and the delivery will begin from 2019.
