A former model based in Mumbai has alleged that her Muslim husband pressurised her to convert to Islam after marriage.

Crying in front of reporters, Rashmi alleged that she has been married to Asif Shahbazkar for 12 years. She told ANI:

After my marriage, I always felt a little pressure for converting. I never wanted to. And since my child was born seven years ago I have pressurised into getting more money by his family. He keeps telling me about love jihad.

She alleged that Asif and his friend Muneeb exchange messages about converting Hindu girls. She also showed bruises on her arms to reporters and accused her husband of torturing her for not converting.

Rashmi alleged that Asif had been trying to evict her from their home after he recently married another Hindu girl.

A police complaint has been registered in the Bandra police station against two people under sections 354,323, 324, 504, 506 and 34. Investigation on the matter is currently underway.
