Key Accused Surrenders in Bihar Scribe Rajdeo Ranjan’s Murder Case

  • Laddan Miyan, the key accused in Bihar journalist Rajdeo Ranjan’s murder case and close aide of former RJD MP Shahabuddin, surrendered before court on Thursday. The court has sent Miyan to a 14-day judicial custody.

  • Earlier, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had arrested five people in connection with Ranjan’s murder case. Those arrested reportedly confessed to having committed the crime.

  • The 45-year-old journalist of Hindi daily Hindustan had been actively writing against lawbreakers in the area before he was gunned down. Ranjan was shot point-blank by motorbike-borne assailants.

  • Previously, several phones were seized after a raid was conducted in RJD strongman and former MP Shahabuddin’s cell in Siwan jail. He is suspected to be involved in the murder.

  • ADG, Sunil Kumar said, “Motive of the offence & the conspiracy angle is still to be figured out…motorcycles have been found, weapon of offence will be examined.”
