Dalit economist and nominated Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha Dr Narendra Jadhav said that he is “seriously contemplating” introducing a Private Member’s Bill which outlaws the use of surnames in an attempt to move towards a casteless society.

The Quint caught up with him to talk about how feasible such a bill is, whether his emphasis on meritocracy means he is against reservation and if he believes this government has failed in its attempt to reach out to the Dalit population.
