Tata Institute of Social Sciences will not provide financial aid to SC, ST and OBC students starting next semester, according to a circular issued by the institute, accessed by The Quint.

The institute has claimed that it faces a deficit of over Rs 20 crore, which hasn’t been reimbursed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, despite "repeated requests”.

No Aadhaar Card? No Degree!

The circular also introduces compulsory biometric attendance in the institute from June 2017.

Students who are unable to provide fingerprint and submit their Aadhaar card will be deemed to have discontinued from the programme of study at TISS.
