Delhiities could get some respite from the sweltering heat on Tuesday, 30 April, as the Met department has predicted thunderstorm and dust storm in the city.

The maximum temperature is expected to be 42 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department said. Skies are expected to be partly cloudy, the IMD added.

Over the last week, Delhi has been witnessing temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded was 23 degrees Celsius and humidity was 23 percent.

“We could see a maximum temperature of around 43 degree at Safdarjung and even higher at other parts of Delhi. Both Tuesday and Wednesday will see a dust storm as well, with wind speed ranging from 30-40 km/hr. Temperatures may drop slightly from Thursday, 2 May, however, due to a thundery development,” said a senior Met official, as quoted by The Times of India.

“The air quality is likely to go to very poor to sever range by afternoon of 30 April. Although PM2.5 will also increase but major enhancement is predicted in coarser particles PM10 level,” a SAFAR report on Monday, 29 April, stated.
