The Delhi traffic police has identified 167 spots in the capital which are prone to water-logging. However, only two of these spots apparently fall under the three municipal corporations functioning in the city, reported The Indian Express.

Last month, the traffic police sent the list of identified spots to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC). In response, the South and East corporations said none of the spots were under their jurisdiction, the report said.

The North corporation claimed two of the spots, and said they had been attended to immediately.

All three corporations, according to the report, maintained that roads which are wider than 60-feet come under the purview of the Public Works Department. They said they had told the PWD to de-silt these areas, according to the report.

Every year, in preparation for monsoon, the traffic police identifies potential problem areas which may be prone to water-logging.

Meanwhile, the traffic congestion in the city intensified after Sunday’s downpour.
