Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 57.06 percent till 6 pm and the final figure is likely to rise, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said on Saturday, 8 February.

The provisional figure is much lower as compared to the over 67 percent turnout recorded in the 2015 Assembly elections in the national capital.

Voting on Saturday started off slowly, but picked up pace after 3 pm. While polling officially ended at 6 pm, voters who entered polling stations till that time were allowed to cast their vote, Singh said.

Delhi went to the polls in a single-phase election on Saturday, with the voting for all 70 Assembly seats commencing at 8 am. Exit polls predicted a comfortable majority for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with the BJP a distant second and the Congress set for a dismal performance once again.
