Delhi 2008 Blasts: Court Defers Framing Charges Against Bhatkal
The serial blasts, that happened in September 2008, killed around 30 and injured over 100 people.
A Delhi Sessions court on Tuesday reserved the order to frame charges against Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his aide Asadullah Akhtar in connection with the 2008 serial blasts case, which killed around 30 and left over 100 with injuries.
The order has been reserved till 1 August.
The court heard the arguments over framing of the charges on Tuesday.
In the last hearing, Bhatkal’s lawyer had claimed that there was no evidence to link his clients to the blasts.
According to ANI, Bhatkal has claimed that the allegations of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell that he conspired to carry out the blasts were “unsustainable”.
He further trashed the accusation that he had purchased material for the blasts at a hardware shop from Udupi in Karnataka while Akhtar bought ball bearings from Lucknow.
He was listed on the National Investigation Agency’s Most Wanted list till his arrest on the India-Nepal border in Bihar on 28 August 2013.
