Dawood Ibrahim’s close aid, Farooq Devdiwala, has been reportedly killed in Karachi, Pakistan on the orders of Chhota Shakeel, reported The Times of India. Devdiwala was reportedly killed on suspicion of plotting against Dawood.

According to the news report, Shakeel was tipped off by his informants about Devdiwala’s meeting with Indian agency officials in Dubai, after which he was confronted by Shakeel. Devdiwala was reportedly killed as he affirmed that the meeting took place.

Devdiwala was wanted in India for various offences, including recruiting youngsters for the terror group Indian Mujahideen (IM). However, Indian agencies were unsuccessful in extraditing him from Dubai after his arrest in 2018.

He is originally a resident of Jogeshwari in Mumbai, but was extradited by Pakistan by showing “bogus” documents of identification, the report added.

Devdiwala’s name had also cropped up in the murder of then-Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya and a few others after the Godhra riots.
