From Wuhan to Chennai: Xi’s India Visit Still Not Confirmed
Reports suggest that the Chinese premier is scheduled to visit India on 11 October for a two-day informal summit.
Lately, there has been much speculation around Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India for a second informal summit between the two Asian countries. Although, there has been no official confirmation from any end, reports suggest that the Chinese premier is scheduled to visit India on 11 October for a two-day summit.
In his recent tweet, the Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Weidong said the two countries must work towards further unleashing the positive effect of Wuhan informal summit.
This will be the second informal meet between the two countries after Prime Minister Modi visit Wuhan in 2018, which aimed to resolve the highly volatile 73-day Doklam standoff.
The two leaders also met at the BRICS leaders’ meeting in Osaka on the sidelines of the G20 summit held in June this year.
It is interesting to note that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is also on a two-day bilateral visit to China.
According to a report by The Indian Express, although there is no official confirmation of the dates, the Ministry of External Affairs has started the process of registration for the informal summit.
DMK President MK Stalin has also hailed the Chinese President’s scheduled visit to Chennai saying that he is happy that Xi-Jinping is set to visit the old port city Mamallapuram, which had close trade links with China.
