Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani has been released after being detained on Friday from the Ahmedabad airport upon his arrival from Delhi.

The police bundled me and my co-activists an hour ago and are now driving around in the dark. We have no idea where they are taking us, and we are worried for our lives and safety.

Jignesh Mevani was earlier arrested on Friday, creating speculation as to whether or not he was arrested to maintain order for the Prime Minister’s visit on his birthday. He was allegedly taken to an undisclosed location.
