The tragedy of Mohd Akhlaq’s murder in Dadri is being dug up and distorted for political ends. The meat in his house was declared mutton, not beef, 8 months ago. But now anonymous sources claim it was indeed a cow. The Quint looks at how the claims about the animal meat don’t add up, and what’s really at stake is religious polarisation before the UP election. Because beef or mutton, murder is murder.
