CRPF Jawan Martyred, 2 Terrorists Killed in Encounter in Pulwama

The jawan succumbed to a bullet injury at the hospital.

One CRPF jawan was killed and two terrorists were eliminated in an encounter in Bandzoo area of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, 23 June, ANI reported.

Two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from the terrorists in the joint operation currently underway with the J&K police, Chinar Corps, Indian Army was quoted by ANI as saying. The jawan, identified as Head Constable Kale Sunil of 182nd Battalion CRPF, succumbed to a bullet injury at the hospital.

“Following specific information about the presence of militants in Bandzoo village, security forces including the local police, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF started a cordon and search operation during which an encounter started,” the J&K police told IANS.

“Two militants have been killed in this encounter. A CRPF jawan sustained critical injuries during the encounter,” it said.

A wreath-laying ceremony for Kale was later held in Budgam.
