The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 32,695 to 9,68,876 on Thursday, 16 July, in what is the biggest one-day spike yet. Meanwhile, the death toll increased by 606 to 24,915.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 3,31,146 active cases across the country, while 6,12,814 patients have been cured or discharged, and one has migrated.

Meanwhile, the United States on Wednesday posted a new daily record of 67,632 new coronavirus cases, news agency AFP reported, citing the Johns Hopkins University tally. The country that is the worst-affected by the COVID-19 outbreak has recorded close to 3.5 million cases so far.

The United States on Wednesday posted a new daily record of 67,632 new coronavirus cases, news agency AFP reported, citing the Johns Hopkins University tally. The country that is the worst affected by the COVID-19 outbreak has recorded close to 3.5 million cases so far.

143 New COVID-19 Cases in Rajasthan; Tally Rises to 26,580

As many as 143 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths have been reported in Rajasthan, taking the tally in the state to 26,580 and the death toll to 534.

Recovery Rates Improves to 63.24%: Centre

The Centre on Thursday said that the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has improved to 63.24 percent, with the recoveries/deaths ratio standing at 96.09 : 3.91 percent.

494 New COVID-19 Cases Take Odisha's Tally to 15,392

Odisha has reported 494 new COVID-19 cases and two fatalities, taking the tally to 15,392 and the death toll to 79.

At least 14 priests of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam have tested positive for COVID-19, ANI reported. Anil Kumar Singhal, Executive officer of TTD today held a meeting with temple priests, health and vigilance officials.

Air India, Air UIndia Express Brough Back 2,08,000 Indians Under Vande Bharat Mission

As on 13 July, Air India and Air India Express operated 1,103 flights, bringing back 2,08,000 Indians under the Vande Bharat Mission, ANI quoted Air India CMD Rajiv Bansal as saying.

“On many of these flights, we ferried back 85,289 passengers to various countries across the world,” he said.

Cases in India Rising Because of Huge Population: AIIMS Director

The number of COVID-19 cases is increasing in India because of the huge population of our country, Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Director, was quoted by ANI as saying.

“But, we have a good recovery rate and the mortality rate is also very low,” he said.

2.083 New Cases in UP

At least 2,083 new COVID-19 patients were reported in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases cases in the state is 15,720.

4,549 New Cases in Tamil Nadu

At least 4,549 new COVID-19 positive cases and 69 deaths have been reported in Tamil Nadu today. The total number of cases rise to 1,56,369 including 46,714 active cases, 1,07,416 discharged cases and 2,236 deaths.

16 New Cases in Chandigarh

At least 16 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Chandigarh today, taking the total number of cases to 635, of which 148 cases are active and 476 have recovered. Death toll stands at 11.

298 New Cases in Punjab

Punjab has recorded at least 298 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths today, taking the total number of cases to 9,094 and death toll to 230.

8,641 New Cases in Maharashtra

Maharashtra reported 8,641 new COVID-19 cases and 266 in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 1,14,648 and death toll to 11,194. Mumbai has the highest number of cases at 97,950, ANI reported.

696 New Cases in Haryana

At least 696 new COVID19 positive cases were reported in Haryana today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 24,002 and 322 deaths.

4,169 New COVID-19 Cases in Karnataka

At least 4,169 new COVID-19 cases and 104 deaths were reported in Karnataka today, taking total number of cases to 51,422 cases including 19,729 recoveries and 1,032 deaths. Bengaluru reported 2,344 new cases and 70 deaths in the last 24 hours, ANI reported.

1,498 New Cases in Mumbai

At least 1,498 new COVID-19 positive cases and 56 deaths were reported in Mumbai today. Total number of positive cases in the city has risen to 97,751 including 68,537 discharged cases, 23,694 active cases and 5,520 deaths, the BMC notified.

64 New Cases in Manipur

At least 64 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Manipur, taking the total number of cases to 1,764.

490 New Cases in J&K

At least 490 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Jammu and Kashmir today, taking total number of cases at 12,156 including 222 deaths.

735 New Cases in MP

At least 735 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 20,378, of which 5562 are active cases. Death toll stands at 689.

Movement of Non Essential Services Restricted in Goa Till 10 August

North Goa District Magistrate issues an order restricting movement of people for all non-essential activities between 8 pm to 6 am with immediate effect till August 10, ANI reported.

Delhi CM Kejriwal Discusses COVID-19 Situation With MLAs, MPs

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting today with all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Delhi, over the preparations being done to fight COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister's Office notified.

In the meeting, the CM said that Delhi model of fighting COVID-19 has been possible due to the collective efforts and support from all political parties, MPs and MLAs, it said.

Odisha Announces Complete Lockdown in Several Parts

Odisha government has announced a 14-day complete lockdown in Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur district and Rourkela Municipal Corporation area from 9 pm of 17 July 31 to July mindnight, ANI reported quoting State Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy.
