Meghalaya to Ban Entry Into State; India’s COVID Tally at 9.36 L

The Meghalaya government will block entry into the state from 24-31 July in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases, CM Conrad Sangma said on Wednesday, 15 July.
The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 29,429 to 9,36,181 on Wednesday, in what is the biggest one-day spike yet. Meanwhile, the death toll increased by 582 to 24,309.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 3,19,840 active cases across the country, while 5,92,031 patients have been cured or discharged, and one has migrated.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that the COVID-19 situation in Delhi is under control, but cautioned against complacency. "As per estimates, 2.25 lakh cases were predicted by 15 July in Delhi but after united efforts, the cases today are half of the prediction. Today, we have 1.15 lakh cases," he was quoted as saying by ANI.

29,429 New COVID-19 Cases Take India’s Tally to 9.36 Lakh; Biggest 1-Day Spike
The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 29,429 to 9,36,181 on Wednesday in what is the biggest one-day spike yet. Meanwhile, the death toll increased by 582 to 24,309.

Recovery Rate Among COVID-19 Patients Improves to 63.20%: Centre
The Centre on Wednesday said that the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has improved to 63.20 percent, with the recoveries/deaths ratio standing at 96.05 : 3.95 percent.
Kejriwal Says Situation in Delhi 'Under Control', Cautions Against Complacency
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that the COVID-19 situation in Delhi is under control, but cautioned against complacency.
"As per estimates, 2.25 lakh cases were predicted by 15 July in Delhi but after united efforts, the cases today are half of the prediction. Today, we have 1.15 lakh cases," he was quoted as saying by ANI.
Pointing out that 20,000-23,000 tests for COVID-19 are being conducted in Delhi daily, Kejriwal said there are 18,600 active cases in the city, while only 4,000 beds are occupied.
Bihar: 20 Staff Members of Governor House Test Positive
Around 20 staff members of the Governor house in Bihar have tested positive for COVID-19, ANI reported on Wednesday.
The state has reported 1,320 new COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to 20,173.
2,432 New Cases in Andhra Pradesh
At least 2,432 new COVID-19 cases and 44 deaths were reported in Andhra Pradesh in the the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 35,451 including 18,378 persons recovered/discharged, ANI reported quoting State Health Department.
Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs discusses COVID-19 Situatiom
A parliamentary panel on home affairs met today and discussed important issues related to COVID-19, ANI reported. The panel demanded that the drugs for COVID-19 treatment should be easily available and affordable.
The committee also raised the issue of black marketing of drugs related to COVID-19. Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Joint Secretary Health Ministry Lav Agarwal were present in the meeting. The meeting was headed by Congress leader Anand Sharma.
Ban On Online Liquor Sale in Bengaluru Till end of Lockdown
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner has ordered ban on online sale of liquor in the area till the end of lockdown.
Lockdown has been imposed in Bengaluru for seven days, which started from 8 pm on Tuesday and will continue till 5 am on 22 July in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
No Lockdown in Uttarakhand, Clarifies CMO
Reports of complete lockdown in Utarakhand from 16-31 July on social media are rumours, ANI reported quoting the CMO.
“Chief Minister has directed SSP Dehradun to take action against those who are spreading rumours,” Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office was quoted as saying.
Meghalaya to Block Entry into the state.
The Meghalaya government will block entry into the state from 24-31 July in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases.
“Government has decided to close all entry points of the state (Byrnihat, Ratacherra, Bajengdoba, Tikrikilla, Mirjumla & Hallidayganj) from 24-31 July, 2020,” ANI quotes CM Conrad Sangma as saying.
35 ITBP Personnel Tested Positive for COVID-19 in Last 24 Hours
At least 35 personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. A total of 356 personnel have recovered from the disease and there are 348 active cases as of now, the ITBP said.
623 New Cases in Kerala
At least 623 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Kerala today of which 157 cases are from Thiruvananthapuram, ANI reported CM Pinarayi Vijayan as saying.
288 New Cases in Punjab
With 288 new positive cases reported today, Punjab's COVID-19 tally rises to 8,799.

638 New Cases in MP
At least 638 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths have been reported in Madhya Pradesh today, taking active cases to 5,053 and death toll to 682, ANI reported quoting State Health Department.

At least 3,176 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka today of which 1975 cases are from Bengaluru, taking the total number of cases to 47,253. Death toll rises to 92.
Mumbai's COVID Tally Rises to 96,253
At least 1,390 new COVID-19 positive cases and 62 death have been reported in Mumbai today. The total number of positive cases have risen to 96,253 including 67,830 discharged cases, 22,959 active cases and 5,464 deaths, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) notified.
1,647 New Cases in Delhi
At least 1,647 new COVID-19 positive cases and 41 deaths have been reported in Delhi today. The total number of cases have risen to 1,16,993 including 17,807 active cases, 95,699 recovered/discharged and 3,487 deaths.

At least 28 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Manipur in the last late 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1,700.
