As many as 755 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the state's tally to 11,956, including 56 people who have died.
Rajasthan has reported 115 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths, taking the tally in the state to 22,678 and the death toll to 495.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday said that the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients currently stands at around 63 percent, with the mortality rate being just 2.72 percent.
"We are not concerned about the number of cases. We are ramping up testing so that maximum cases can be detected and treated... Around 2.7 lakh tests are being done daily. Despite being such a large country, we've not reached the community transmission stage of COVID-19. Though there are some small pockets where there could be slightly higher transmission locally," he was quoted by ANI as saying.
Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa on Friday said that he will work from home as a precautionary measure after some of the staff at his office-cum-residence tested positive for COVID-19, PTI reported.
Pune Divisional commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar announnced a complete lockdown in Pimpri-Chinchwad and parts of rural Pune from 13-23 July.
“Complete lockdown announced for Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and some parts of Rural Pune from 13 July to 23 July. Only shops related to essential services like dairy and medical stores and and hospitals will remain open,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
“22 villages have been identified in rural parts of Pune district where this lockdown will be implemented. Apart from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad area, containment zones these villages will be added,” Naval Kishore Ram, Pune district collector was quoted by ANI as saying.
At least 73 new COVID-19 positive cases in Border Security Force (BSF) were reported in the last 24 hours, ANI reported.
The total number of positive cases in BSF stands at 1659, including 927 recovered cases.
Chandigarh reported 13 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 536 including 121 active cases and 7 deaths.
At least 9 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Ladakh.
“COVID-19 active cases in the Union Territory has gone up to 1064 of which 350 are in Leh district and 714 are in Kargil district,” Department of Information and Public relations Leh, Ladakh notified.
Tamil Nadu reported 3,680 new COVID-19 positive cases and 64 deaths today, taking the total number of positive cases to 1,30,261 including 46,105 active, 82,324 discharges and 1,829 deaths, ANI reported quoting National Health Mission, Tamil Nadu.
Uttarakhand reported 68 new COVID-19 positive cases today, taking the total positive cases to 3,373 including 592 active, 2,706 recoveries and 46 deaths, ANI reported quoting State Health Department.
Lockdown in Thiruvananthapuram has been extended for a week, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan announced. Triple lockdown will be imposed in containment zones.
875 positive cases of COVID-19 and 14 deaths reported in Gujarat in the last 24 hours. State tally rises to 40,155 including 28,183 cured/discharged and 2,024 deaths.
Punjab reported 217 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking total positive cases to 7,357 and death toll to 187. ANI reported quoting State Health Department.
At least 1,198 new COVID-19 positive cases, 26 deaths and 522 were discharged in West Bengal in the last 24 hours. The total tally stands at 27,109 including 880 deaths and 17,348 discharged, ANI reported quoting Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
