  • After about one-and-a-half hours of arguments on 12 September, the Chandigarh District Court dismissed the bail plea of Vikas Barala, who has been accused of stalking and attempting to kidnap city-based DJ Varnika Kundu on 4 August, as per media reports.
  • Kundu, the daughter of a senior Haryana IAS officer, had been brazenly stalked by two men, later identified as Vikas Barala and Ashish.
  • Barala, who is the son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala, was arrested along with Ashish, soon after the incident was brought to light. The duo was, however, released the same evening.
  • Earlier, on 29 August, a local court had dismissed the duo’s bail plea on 29 August.
