COVID-19: Satyendar Jain’s Health Improves, Oxygen Support Removed

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who had tested positive for COVID-19 on 17 June, has been shifted to the general ward following improvement in his health condition, with his oxygen support also being removed, ANI reported on Monday, 22 June, quoting his office.

Earlier on Saturday, the news agency had reported that he was responding to treatment after plasma therapy, with his body temperature receding towards normal.

On Friday, the 55-year-old Aam Aadmi Party leader was admitted to Saket’s Max Hospital after his condition deteriorated. He was earlier admitted at the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital.

He had been put on oxygen support after his lung infection increased and he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

AAP MLA Somnath Bharti earlier tweeted that Jain's health was stable.

Jain was tested twice last week after he had developed symptoms of coronavirus, including high fever and breathing difficulties. He tested positive the second time on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, AAP MLA Atishi, Delhi government advisor Abhinandita Mathur and AAP media panelist Akshay Marathe had also tested positive for coronavirus and were quarantined.

The national capital is the second-worst affected by coronavirus in India, having recorded close to 60,000 cases so far, with the death toll standing at 2,175.
