The West Bengal government on Wednesday, 24 June, announced the extension of lockdown till 31 July to contain the spread of COVID-19, PTI reported.
Meanwhile, Delhi on Wednesday recorded 3,788 new COVID-19 cases and 64 deaths, taking its tally to 70,390 and the death toll to 2,365. As many as 19,059 tests were conducted in the national capital on Wednesday.
The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 15,968 to 4,56,183, in what was the biggest one-day spike. According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 1,83,022 active cases in the country, while 2,58,684 patients have been cured or discharged. The death toll currently stands at 14,476.

AYUSH minister Shripad Naik on Wednesday said that the claims made by Baba Ramdev about a COVID-19 cure will be looked into.
“It's a good thing that Baba Ramdev has given a new medicine to the country but as per rule,it has to come to AYUSH Ministry first. They even said that they have sent a report. We'll look into it and permission will be given after seeing the report,” he said.
282 New COVID-19 Cases in Odisha
At least 282 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Odisha, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 5752, of which 1740 are active and 3988 have recovered, ANI reported quoting Odisha Information & Public Relations Department.
Rajasthan Reports 182 New COVID-19 Cases
Rajasthan reported 7 deaths and 182 new COVID-19 positive cases today, ANI reported quoting the state’s health department. The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 15809 including 3013 active cases and 372 deaths.
Sisodia Writes to HM Shah to Do Away With Mandatory Clinical assessment Order
Delhi deputy CM Manish sisodia said he wrote to Home Minister Amit shah to do away with the mandatory clinical assessment rule for Delhi COVID-19 patients.
“I had requested Lt Governor to change the rule under which every #COVID patient is required to visit a quarantine centre for assessment. It has been 2 days, I haven't received any reply. This new system has created pressure on administration,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
“Today I have written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting him to do away with this system as it will create chaos,” he added.
ITBP Takes Over COVID Care Centre in Delhi's Chhatarpur
Indo Tibetan border police (ITBP) today took over the COVID Care Centre at Radha Soami Beas Chattarpur, New Delhi as Nodal Agency to operate. The Home Ministry had yesterday nominated ITBP as nodal agency to provide the doctors and team of other professionals to this centre as requested by the Delhi government.
Many teams of the ITBP including medical and administration visited the Radhaswami Ashram today and held series of discussions with the stakeholders.
It is expected that a 2,000 bed facility will be operational at the Centre from 26 June, 2020. The total bed capacity may go upto 10,200. This will be the largest single Covid Care Centre in the Capital and the country.
Maldives to Open International Tourism
Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih today announced that Maldives will re-open its borders for int'l tourists on 15 July.
“Resorts, liveaboards and hotels at uninhabited islands will open from July 15.Guest Houses and hotels at inhabited islands will open from 1 August,” Ministry of Tourism, Maldives said as quoted by ANI.

Highest Single-Day Spike of 152 COVID-19 Cases in Kerala
Kerala on Wednesday reported the highest single-day spike of 152 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 3,603. This is the sixth consecutive day that Kerala has recorded over 100 cases, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, according to ANI.
"Of the 152 new COVID-19 positive cases reported today, 98 have returned from abroad and 46 from other states. Out of the total cases reported in the state, 90 percent are those who returned from outside the state," Vijayan said.
